Duppini Art Group, supported by Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo are organizing “Duppini LIKE: The Old Post Office and modern means of communication” project

With a series of events over the past few years, Duppini Art Group enlivened the building of the Old Post Office in the town of Veliko Tarnovo. For the major event “The Old Post Office or modern means of communication”, a lot of famous artists were invited to creatively respond to the challenges of an architectural space which has lost its function. The results of the event were impressive, which made us proceed with the theme by announcing an invitation for video installations in the same spaces of the Old Post Office this year. This iconic architectural building of Veliko Tarnovo, which was built and performed its functions as a major center of communication in the 20th century, is now forgotten and empty. New technologies, which have largely changed contemporary art as well, allow for reflections unrelated to any physical presence, and give opportunities for redefining and creating a new context in the spaces of the Old Post Office.

The present invitation for participation with original projects is extended to all creative artists from Bulgaria and abroad who would like to react to the specific spaces of the Old Post Office.
Creative challenge: Adaptation of contemporary forms of visual expression to the specific space of the Old Post Office in the town of Veliko Tarnovo, communication with spaces and their transformation by means of digital arts.

Requirements for participation:

Deadline for sending the projects: 10^th November 2013.

Presentation of the selected creative artists will take place from 22^nd to 25^th November 2013 and will activate interior and exterior spaces of the Old Post Office, turning it into an active spot for visual communication with the viewers, both local people and town guests. Publication of the selected projects on the Duppini Art Group Facebook page will take place on 22^nd November 2013, which will be the start of the public vote (continuing until 2^nd December 2013).

The author whose project receives the greatest number of LIKEs, as well as one author selected by the organizers, will be invited for a one-month stay in the Residential Art Center of Duppini Art Group in Veliko Tarnovo in 2014. Awarded authors will be announced on 5^th December 2013.

By means of reflecting on the place and role of arts as a communication tool, we would like for this event to support our ambition to create an art center for contemporary art in the town of Veliko Tarnovo.

DUPPINI Art Group reserves the right to use the projects for advertising, publications, and presentations related to this event and to the activities of the group.

How to apply:

Deadline for applications: 10^th November 2013

· Complete the application form and enclose a short CV.

· In the application form, you should provide a hyperlink from which images of the required resolution and quality of your work can be downloaded.

· Photographs should be in JPG files, and video files should be in DVD format.
